Member Rules
I. Sheduling
A. Purpose - to insure the rights of each member are protected and that each member has the opportunity to maximize the use of this facility in an uncrowded, peaceful atmosphere.
B. Managements Role - to organize, coordinate, and arbitrate the scheduling of this facility.
C. Reservations - Each member must call our office to "book" Big Woods Fish & Game Preserve.
1. Information to be given:
A. Name
B. How many in party
C. Estimated arrival and departure time .
2. Bookings:
A. Members may book Big Woods on a first come first serve basis, however, each member may only have one reservation on the books at a time.
B. Departure time will be no later than 12:00P.M. and arrival no earlier than 3:30P.M. This rule pertains to overnight guest staying in the lodges. Day fishermen will coordinate arrival and departures with the office as the schedule permits.
C. If no reservations have been received by 3:00p.m.on the proposed day of departure, a member may elect to stay a second night and day upon availability and office confirmation.
D. NEWEST RULE : Members are allowed to make 2 day bookings at the MAGNOLIA COMPLEX ONLY. Booking must be made 3 weeks in advance for two night stays.
II. Guide Lines of facility usage
B. Memberships-
1. Individual memberships
A. There is a limit of three persons per boat including the member.
B. The lodge is furnished with towels and bed linen, however, each member must wash dishes, and straighten up the lodge prior to departure. Day time guest are urged to use the outside washroom and not the bathrooms in the lodges.
C. Rules on trash are simple, dispose of it properly.
D. Notice must be given to management if fire arms are to be brought on site. Management will assign this area which will be available to use for that purpose. Hiking in the preserve is OK. However, inquire with management upon making reservations to be sure firearms will not be used by others on the premises.
E. Levees are open to foot traffic until they become too wet. Please help take care of them.
F. Boats and motors are provided for members use. Fishing from the wharves is permitted.
G. Fishing from levees is not permitted unless there is a designated wharf/platform designed for that purpose.
H. Dogs and / or pets must be controlled by owner at all times. No dogs are allowed inside lodges. Members are responsible for all of their animals actions!
2. Corporate members
A. All rules are the same for corporate/group memberships with the exceptions of the following:
B. Every corporate member is allowed three designated users. These designated users can be changed with written notice and board approval.
III. House Rules for Fishing
B. Bass fishing in the boats with live bait is prohibited.
C. All barbs must be removed or crimped down on all hooks. No more than two treble hooks are allowed on one lure.
D. Try to keep fish in the water when removing hooks.
E. Do not weigh fish except by tying a loop in the line and attaching the loop to a scale. Leave the fish in the water while tying a loop and never puncture the fish mouth with the scale.
F. It is requested that a 3/0 worm hook be used with the exception of fly fishing.
G. No bank fishing except on wharf.
H. If a fish swallows a worm hook cut the line and leave it in the fish.
I. Report all fish loss’s or unusual conditions as they occur.
J. Members who wish to night fish may do so only on the low wharfs at the lodges where flood lights can provide adequate lighting for proper fish handling techniques.
K. Members should respect the privacy of others and the facility both inside the lodge and outside.
L. Boats should be replaced in the appropriated stalls after fishing and correctly plugged back up so that the batteries may be kept charged.
M. All debris should be removed from boats and disposed of properly.
Big Woods Duck Hunting Rules
A. Only 3 hunters per blind.
B. 1 blind per key holder
C. Hunting license(s) are required.
D. All hunts must be booked with office
E. State rules apply to all hunts.
F. Ducks are to be cleaned at home
G. Please cover blinds when hunt is finished
A. For hunting practices to increase deer population, Big Woods will allow members to take one doe and one buck per season.
B. All members will be given a personal hunting area to themselves. Deer hunting is for the member only.”No guest”
C. The member provides his or her own stand and feeder/food plot.
D. Hunters are to wear Orange deer hunting colors to prevent any accidents.
E. Members are allowed one blind per key holder.
F. All hunts must be scheduled with office.
Other Hunting Rules
A. Hunters have no limits on hogs.
B. No other big game besides deer or hog should be taken.
C. All hunting is to be done in assigned areas, whether it is big or small game.
D. Big Woods allows hunting of: Ducks, Geese, Squirrels, Rabbits, Doves, Snipe, Deer, and Hogs only. Other than wild hogs, predator animals should not be taken unless a threat of aggression is eminent.
E. All game is to be cleaned at home.
F. Members are responsible for all hunting guest(s) and/or dog(s).
G. Maximum number of hunting guest is two (2) per key holder, and no guest (0) for personal deer hunting
Skeet Range and Rifle Range Regulations
A. Skeet Range use must be booked with office on all occasions.
B. Members may shoot skeet at no additional cost but are ask not to be wasteful.
C. All shootings must be after 12:00P.M. during hunting seasons. Out of season shootings may began after 9:00A.M.
D. All debris and shells are to be picked up and properly disposed of after shooting.
E. While using skeet range member is to be present. “No Exceptions”.
F. Maximum number of shooters at a time is 3.
Reminder: To all members: Please be responsible while shooting. Use good judgement. Remember there could be others in the area. To maintain safety shoot all targets in the designated area.
